Thadam Hindi Remake Titled Gumraah. Kicks Off 2nd Filming Schedule

The Hindi remake of the 2019 Tamil language crime thriller movie ‘Thadam’, which features Aditya Roy Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles, has officially been titled ‘Gumraah’. The film’s second shooting schedule will commence in Mumbai from today. Moreover, the movie also features Ronit Roy, who is expected to join the film’s shoot very soon.

‘Gumraah’ is being helmed by Vardhan Ketkar in his feature film directorial debut. He has previously worked as an assistant director in films such as ‘Dagangg’, ‘Brothers’, and ‘Kapoor & Sons’.

In the parent film ‘Thadam’, the lead role was played by Arun Vijay. And the story revolved around a police investigation into a murder case in which two lookalike suspects are arrested on the basis of photographic evidence.

It was previously reported that Sidharth Malhotra was initially being considered for the lead role for the ‘Thadam’ Hindi remake. However, eventually, Aditya Roy Kapur was roped in for the project. Along the lines of the original film, Aditya Roy Kapur (for the first time) will be seen playing a double role in this film. While ‘Toofaan’ actress Mrunal Thakur will be essaying the role of a police officer.

Earlier, ‘Thadam’ was also remade in the Telugu language with the title ‘Red’. And now, it will be interesting to see how the Hindi remake of ‘Thadam’ turns out to be. Especially considering the fact that recently, the Shahid Kapoor starrer Hindi remake of the acclaimed Telugu sports drama ‘Jersey’ was met with an insipid box office response despite receiving positive feedback from both audiences and critics. The original 2019 film ‘Thadam’ is currently streaming on the Sun NXT OTT platform.
