It’s been one very interesting week for movie-buffs and Netflix India audience. Both Ek Villain Returns and Thallumaala released in a gap of two days and are battling it out at Netflix India trends this week. Ek Villain Returns dropped on the streaming platform on the 9th of September while the latter on 11th of September.
One look at Netflix India Movies Top 10 would show you that John Abraham-Arjun Kapoor starrer Ek Villain Returns is trending at #1, while Tovino Thomas starrer Thallumaala is at #3. Rajkumaar Rao’s ‘Hit : The First Case’ is trending on #2 even after two weeks of Netflix release. But how long will this trend continue?
Ideally speaking, unlike Ek Villain returns Thallumaala is well received at the box office. The film is also generating better reviews after it’s release on Netflix India. Despite being a film, well curated a theatrical experience, Thallumaala is generating an audience of its own on Netflix too. While Ek Villain Returns is largely watched on the platform because of the sequel factor. In all probabilities the trend is going to reverse and it wouldn’t take much time for Thallumaala to become a bigger sensation on Netflix India.
The Khalid Rahman directorial ‘Thallumaala’ released on 12th August worldwide, while Mohit Suri directorial ‘Ek Villain Returns’ was a June 29th release. Let us wait and watch how the two films are going to trend from now on. Stay tuned for more updates.
