The Accountant 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 2016 Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal starrer, has landed at Amazon. As per Variety, the sequel is one of the projects that will benefit from this year’s production tax incentives via California’s Film and Television Tax Credit Program. Amazon MGM Studios will bankroll the project.
Apart from The Accountant 2, the upcoming Star Wars spinoff movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, and Chris Pratt’s Mercy will also receive the benefit.
The filming for the upcoming Accountant entry will commence in March this year, with Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal returning as Christian Wolff and Braxton Wolff, Christian’s brother.
Plot details about the second film are scarce. But we do know that it will follow the events of the first film, which revolved around Affleck’s Christian Wolff, an autistic certified public accountant who specialises in revealing the books of terrorist or criminal organisations across the globe. Things take a unique turn after we discover that Christian is also capable of killing people.
The 2016 film minted over $155 million globally against its $44 million budget. Its critical reception turned out to be moderate, with a rotten rating of 52% on Rotten Tomatoes based on over 280 reviews. However, it received a more positive response from viewers.
Apart from Affleck and Bernthal, there are no actors in The Accountant 2 as of now. In addition to these men, the first film featured talents like J. K. Simmons, Anna Kendrick, John Lithgow, and Jeffrey Tambor. Stay tuned for more updates.
