American epic space opera media franchise created by George Lucas, the Star Wars series which began with the eponymous 1977 film was very quick to become a worldwide pop culture phenomenon. With eleven feature-length films and six TV series already released, the franchise is undoubtedly one of the most culturally important ones in recent history.
The latest show in the franchise, ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’, recently premiered on Disney+ Hotstar. The supernatural sci-fi thriller stars Amandla Stenberg, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Manny Jacinto, Rebecca Henderson, and more in leading roles.
The show, unsurprisingly, managed to garner widespread views and acclaim and went on to have the biggest opening for a show on Disney+ for the year so far. Having totaled a whopping 11.1M views in its first 5 days, the series seems to be off to a good start.
The show also premiered to a near-perfect 90% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the audience score paints a rather juxtaposing picture. The show currently has a 26% audience score; a stark contrast to what the critics thought about the 2 episodes that have been released so far!
But who’s to say for sure when numerous episodes are yet to drop! Will the audience rating rise in proportion to the number of episodes released? Stay tuned to find out!
