The Acolyte: How Does Sol’s Actions Affect The Finale?

Well, it’s safe to say that Episode 7 has completely flipped the storyline of The Acolyte. The first three episodes portray the Jedi as the real peacekeepers of the galaxy, exhibiting flawlessness in their behaviors, ability to control their own emotions, and instances of no clouded judgment. But as we move to Episode 5 after witnessing Qimir slaughtering Master Sol’s team, the series’ tone begins to change. The last episode completely flips the script, transforming the series’ tone.

Episode 7 reveals that Master Sol’s strong emotional attachment to Osha inspired him to go to any extent to “protect” her. Perhaps his attachment to Osha completely blinded him from seeing clearly. Osha longed to experience life outside her coven and become a Jedi. However, her mother Aniseya wished for her to remain under the protection of the witches, given her and her twin sister Mae’s unusual conception. Master Torbin disclosed that both girls had the same high midichlorian count, which is nearly impossible unless someone artificially created them by splitting a single consciousness. Their birth triggered the vergence that revitalized planet Brendok. That same vergence attracted the attention of both Indara and Sol.

It is possible that once Osha discovers the truth about Brendok, she may pledge her allegiance to Qimir. This bitter revelation could turn her hatred towards Sol, the person she loves deeply. Almost all characters, including Sol, exhibited negative emotions in Episode 7. Osha’s desire to escape her coven and become a Jedi was evident. She sought a quick and easy path to a new life. Sometimes, instances like these indicate an individual’s fall to the dark side.

Sol saw something special in Osha and quickly forged a strong emotional connection with her. This is reminiscent of Qui-Gon Jinn’s discovery of Anakin Skywalker. We all know that happened with Anakin, and a very similar outcome may come out in the case of Osha as well, considering how she wore Qimir’s helmet despite sensing something bad.

The witches’ selfishness of their creation blended with Sol’s strong desire to have a padawan of his own led to this chaos. He was hell-bent on saving Osha as he suspected that her mothers were going to sacrifice her alongside Mae. Oh, boy! He needs to clear a lot of things up to a whole lot of people, especially Osha. Given everything that has happened so far, it seems clear that viewers will witness Sol consistently testing his resolve as a Jedi in the upcoming episodes, including the finale. He may end up giving his ultimate test in the show’s finale. That test may test his ability to control his emotions, one of the key traits of Jedi Masters. Stay tuned for more updates.
