Showrunner Leslye Headland has unveiled the sources of her inspiration for the forthcoming Star Wars Disney+ series, The Acolyte. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, the show’s creator revealed how the SW Expanded Universe shaped up her project.
Taking place during the end of the High Republic Era, nearly 100 years before the prequel trilogy, The Acolyte will feature brand-new characters, concepts, and storylines. However, Headland has revealed that she has also been inspired by the franchise’s canon and legends for the show.
“What I would say is there were so many things that I read about or thought about over the years that – if I were ever allowed to make a Star Wars show or movie or write a book, or whatever they would let me do – I thought, ‘Gosh, it would be so cool to take this from legends or take this from canon into live-action.’ I can’t answer it directly, but it’s just been little Easter eggs that I’ve been crossing my fingers to get the chance to use,” said Headland to ScreenRant.
The fact that Leslye Headland has used elements from both the franchise’s canon and legends is commendable. Fans can accept it as a good sign as the show’s creator actually possesses tremendous knowledge about the galaxy far, far away. Her deep understanding of Star Wars positions The Acolyte to be a groundbreaking addition to the franchise. Her mastery of both canon and the Expanded Universe lore suggests the forthcoming Disney+ series will be brimmed with innovation and creative storylines.
We all know about The Acolyte’s primary feud, which will be between Jedi Master Sol and her former padawan, Mae. However, many details about the series are still under wraps. Let’s see what happens. The first two episodes will arrive on the Disney+ streaming platform on June 4. Stay tuned for more updates.
