As per media reports, the anticipated ‘Arkham Asylum’ series is not happening anymore. It was announced previously that the show will be coming to Max and Antonio Campos will be serving as the writer and the showrunner for it. The show was to be set in the world of Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’.
We are getting the much anticipated show ‘The Penguin’ but another show from the world of Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ was announced in 2020 and Terrence Winter was signed as the writer. It was previously thought that the show will deal with the Gotham PD. After Terence walked out of the project, Joe Barton was brought in as the writer but he too walked out because of creative differences.
Matt Reeves had later stated that the Gotham PD series slowly evolved into a show about the Arkham Asylum. He described it as “horror movie or a haunted house that is Arkham.” After James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC, it was announced that the show was about to be part of the new DCU and not a part of ‘The Batman’ world. Antonio Campos was then signed as the writer and showrunner for The series.
But things seem to have not worked out properly and fans are again deprived of one ambitious project from DC. People are disappointed over the news and they think that expanding the new DC universe with a show on Arkham Asylum would have been great for the production house, as well as the fans.
