Just like every Batman fan predicted, Matt Reeves’ latest Dark Knight instalment, The Batman, is receiving high praises from the movie critic community. Various platforms have released their early reviews about the upcoming DC and Warner Bros movie. And they all are saying the same thing. Robert Pattinson will become your new favourite Batman after enjoying the film in theatres.
Some of The Batman‘s cast members attended the movie’s London premiere on February 23. And MTV UK has stated, “Matt Reeves delivers a nail-biting, gritty and fun Batman coming-of-age story.”
Empire has acknowledged the movie as “gripping”. On the other hand, Total Film called it “sensational” with Insider hailing it as “Robert Pattinson will be your new favourite Batman.”
Ben Affleck was the first choice to star and helm this one. He even finished a screenplay with Geoff Johns. His draft made Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke the ultimate baddie. Additionally, Batgirl’s debut and the exploration of Robin’s death were on the cards as well. But the lacklustre critical and box office performances of Batman v Superman (2016) and Justice League (2017) forced Warner Bros to take DCEU into a new direction.
The same year WB hired Reeves to helm the movie. He recently explained why he decided to make a Batman movie separate from the current DCEU timeline, “Ben [Affleck] had been working on a version of the script. and I said, ‘Here’s the thing: I respect that the DC Universe has become an extended universe and all the movies were kind of connected. But another Batman film, it shouldn’t have to carry the weight of connecting the characters from all those other movies. I didn’t want them in there.”
Fans have watched enough of Batman’s origin story. Now, The Dark Knight is in his second year of crime-fighting in Gotham City in the forthcoming film. Plus, we will witness ‘The Bat and the Cat’ relationship between Batman and Catwoman. But the primary antagonist is none other than The Riddler. It seems like ‘The Master of Riddles’ has some personal vendetta against The Waynes and the rest of Gotham’s elite.
The Batman starring Robert Pattinson will come out on March 4.
