Buzz is all around the film, The Beekeeper, on its way to be a global sensation and one of the January hits, as it is having a tight fight with Mean Girls. The film just grossed $6.7M on its third weekend and saw a minute 22% drop from the previous week.
The action-packed film with the coolest Beekeeper suit, starring Jason Statham and Josh Hutcherson, managed to be a success on the big screens.
Though The Beekeeper received massive global appreciation, it did have significantly low global exposure, especially for the Indian audience.
Among all these, the film is already on OTT and in a VOD format. But there is a catch. India won’t be having a piece of that sweet Beekeeper honey as it’s on Prime Video but just in the USA.
India will be watching The Beekeeper, but after some considerable time as the film will be on Lionsgate, and that too in April. The film already had a very late release in India, and that is definitely affecting the OTT release of the film.
Besides increasing the risk of piracy, it also creates massive dissatisfaction for the fans, which is resulted in the VOD data. And with the delay, you also can expect a massive price tag as it will be abominable and unjustifiable for most viewers.
Even in the US, the price tag is as high as $19.99, a shockingly pricey tag, and in India, you cannot expect any cheap. Similar to Wonka’s price, the high price tag practically discourages the audience as most will show patience for it to come to normal OTT.
Besides that, the film is doing great on a global aspect, and for that, to release it on OTT isn’t the wisest decision as it will affect the BO numbers massively.
But yes, if you are affected by the limited screens of the action-packed film, you need to wait for at least a month and a half to stream; that is an assurance.
