‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever‘ is easily one of the most anticipated films right now. From a brilliantly intriguing teaser to the posters, the movie’s craze among the audience is increasing every day. But actor Tenoch Huerta’s reveal in a recent interview just opened up whole new possibilities for the MCU!
It is in a recent interview that Huerta, who plays Namor, the main antagonist of the movie revealed that his character is a mutant in the MCU just as he is in the comics. While this in itself is a huge scoop, what is even more exciting is all the opportunities this has opened up for the MCU concerning the fictional homo superior called mutants.
Ms. Marvel who is originally an inhuman in the comics was MCU’s first official mutant and is confirmed to appear in other Marvel content as well. Namor now happens to be the second. But things change with regard to the two being a mutant. While fans thought Ms. Marvel being a mutant was just a description of the origin of her power and Marvel will only be showing the rest of the mutants in their upcoming X-Men reboot reportedly titled ‘The Mutants’, Namor proves that is not so. In fact, Namor’s mere presence in the MCU in such a big role would mean we would get to see more mutants popping up in other big projects before we get to see their total integration into the MCU in the reboot. It in fact reiterated what Ms. Marvel teased the fans.
Disney can now use mutants in MCU unlike before because it bought Fox and acquired the IPs. And if Marvel follows this method of introducing characters in other series and movies, then the introduction of mutants into the MCU will be seamless and organic rather than making a new origin movie.
Mutants in the MCU will open up doors never explored before. That along with the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot points at one thing; Black Panther: Wakanda Forever may signify the end of Phase Four, but it teases the upcoming phases will be bigger and better.
