We can find several movies, TV shows, and novels based on the life and deeds of Jesus Christ. Millions of people worship him. However, there are also many people who do not know about the real life of the Messiah. We are familiar with some of his preachings and miracles, though. We know how he gained thousands of followers and rose to prominence. Well, this scenario also motivates LaKeith Stanfield’s Clarence in the official trailer of Jeymes Samuel’s The Book of Clarence.
The upcoming biblical comedy-drama takes place 29 years after the death of Jesus Christ. Stanfield plays Clarence, a poor man who becomes the fake Messiah to commence a new life of glory and free himself and his mother from all debts. In the film, we will see him going through a journey filled with power, knowledge, redemption, and a lot of struggles.
Early critical reception towards the film is highly positive. It currently has a ‘fresh’ RT score of 93%, based on 14 reviews. The movie had its global premiere at the BFI London Film Festival in October this year.
Written and directed by Jeymes Samuel, The Book of Clarence stars LaKeith Stanfield, Omar Sy, Anna Diop, RJ Cyler, David Oyelowo, Michael Ward, Alfre Woodard, Caleb McLaughlin, James McAvoy, Benedict Cumberbatch, and more.
