The makers of the popular show ‘The Boys’ have released a statement warning the viewers of the show about the ‘fictional political violence’ portrayed there. The season finale concludes the fourth season with assassination attempts made on the presidential candidate and the vice-presidential candidate before the elections.
The storyline has become particularly relatable to the present day scenario as an assassination attempt has been made on Donald Trump before the coming elections and it has caused a huge uproar in the internet. Netizens usually find it amusing to find similarities and predictions from various movies and shows, for the real world: as we have seen multiple times from The Simpsons. And where there is a huge similarity, the makers of ‘The Boys’ confirm that this is completely unintentional and co-incidental, as the show had been filmed last year and scripted long before that.
Amazon and The Boys makers have further stated that they reject real world violence of any kind.
Eric Kripke, the creator of the show had said about the political nature of the show, “When we first pitched the show, it was before Trump was elected, and the idea that a celebrity would actively want to turn themselves into a fascist autocrat was kind of a crazy idea. We sort of lucked into a show whose metaphor is really about the moment we’re living in. And so once we realize that, we’re like, ‘Well, we have to go all the way.’ And so every season we’ve just pushed it a little bit further, but it’s all over. I mean, it’s all over Season 1.”
