Antony Starr as Homelander stole the limelight in Episode 4 of The Boys Season 4 with his creepy and bone-chilling portrayal of the maniacal leader of The Seven. But there was one more individual who took everyone by surprise in that episode, or should we say his newfound powers did the same for us? Yup, we’re talking about William “Billy” Butcher (Karl Urban), who seems to have gained superpowers based on the evidence in Episode 4.
The latest episode shows Butcher unconsciously blowing up Ezekiel into pieces. But how did he do it? What kind of powers does he possess now? Let’s find out!
Butcher has revealed that he shot himself up with a “Temp V” dose nearly four months ago before the events of Episode 4. Luckily (on unfortunately) Frenchie (Tomer Capone) had some Temp V vials with him after Season 3, allowing Butcher to steal a vial from him.
In Season 3, Butcher received abilities like super strength, laser eyes, and flight after taking a dose of Temp V. But he consistently shot himself up with Temp V, ultimately deteriorating his physical health along the way. He could have got all these abilities back in the latest episode. However, it remains unclear if these new Temp V vials have been upgraded by Vought.
Another superpower that could have aided Butcher in slaughtering Ezekiel is blood bending. Victoria Neuman and Marie Moreau from the “Gen V” series possess this lethal power. We cannot ignore the odds of Butcher having blood bending abilities now, as no damage occurred to the trailer.
Telepathy is another possibility considering Butcher’s unconscious state after killing Ezekiel. However, it doesn’t explain the mysterious parasite-like creature found within him. This unknown creature could be the key to controlling Butcher’s mind, especially with his visions of Becca appearing everywhere. Therefore, “the creature theory” shouldn’t be dismissed, especially considering Butcher’s visions of Becca.
We can’t wait to see what kind of crazy powers Butcher has cooked up now. Stay tuned for more updates. Stream Episode 4 of The Boys Season 4 on Prime Video.
