“The Boys” has always quenched our sadistic thirst with the question, “What if superheroes went rogue?” Now, as the fourth season approaches, we wonder if we are nearing the finish line for the show.
Eric Kripke stated that the show will run longer than expected:
“No one was more wrong in all of human history about how many seasons their show was going to go than this guy.”
There were rumors that “The Boys” would end after five seasons, but those plans have since changed. Especially with the hype the show has garnered and the success of its spin-off, the show is likely to get more exposure and more seasons in the future.
“Gen V,” the spin-off of “The Boys,” is already successful on its own, and as the creators attempt to build a “Boys” universe, the main show needs to continue for a bit longer.
Yes, it is always wise to close the curtains when a show is still hyped and relevant. “The Boys” might risk making the same mistake as some of the most popular superhero shows of the generation, like “The Flash.”
But if they are planning to expand the universe, they can definitely continue with “The Boys.” Though some arcs might end this season or during the fifth season, they can introduce new storylines.
One major fault of the show is that “The Boys” have increased the stakes. They aren’t the saviors of the earth or the species, and this earth-saving narrative is too moral and too glorious for the team.
As the fourth season starts streaming on June 13th on Prime Video, this season is crucial for the show’s future. The numbers are at an all-time high, and if this season works out, we can surely expect a couple more seasons of “The Boys.”
