Sai Pallavi Starrer ‘Gargi‘ releases on 15th of July. This multi-lingual courtroom drama is written and directed by Gautham Ramachandran. Bank-rolled by Ravichandran Ramachandran, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Thomas George, and Gautham Ramachandran under the banner Blacky Genie & My Left Foot Production, Suriya and Jyothika also recently came aboard the film as presenters via their production house 2D Entertainment.. The Film also being released in Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam.
In this Intense courtroom drama, Sai Pallavi is a dutiful daughter who fights for her father. Sai Pallavi essays the role of a teacher in the movie with a loving family. Her life turns upside down when her father who works as a watchman is arrested in a false case. She goes to lengths to deliver justice to her father and this forms the crux of the case.
The promotional materials and trailer of Gargi proves that much like Sai Pallavi’s previous film Virata Parvam, Gargi is also a social drama. Virata Parvam flopped at the box-office without a trace. Shows got cancelled and the movie was removed from screens within a week. Despite having bankable names like Sai Pallavi and Rana, the film met with dismal box office returns. Virata Parvam also didn’t do well enough on Netflix. After the initial momentum, the film fell flat within 3 days. Besides high ticket prices, another important reason for the failure of the film was that people seem to not really dig social dramas anymore. The film not actually being good, didn’t help either. Coming to Gargi, all odds are against the film for now. Even if the film is good enough it is yet to be seen how good will it perform at the theatres. After Love Story, none of Sai Pallavi’s releases did exceptionally well commercially. However, Shyam Singha Roy was an average grosser at the box-office and a big success on Netflix India.
It is yet to be seen if Gargi will follow Virata Parvam’s path or Love Story’s path for now at the box office. Not ignoring the fact that if the film turns out good, even dismal box-office performance won’t hurt it in a longer run as it looks like an indie movie whose budget can easily be covered by streaming and satellite rights. If not the theatre-going audience, the streaming audience is certain to give it the reception it deserves. Gargi stars Sai Pallavi in lead and Kali Venkat and Aishwarya Lekshmi in pivotal roles. Music Director Govind Vasantha composed music. Sraiyanti and Prem Krishna handled cinematography and Shafique Mohamed ali is the Editor of movie.
