The Curse Season 2 has received an exciting update from its leading lady, Emma Stone. Created by the duo of Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie, The Curse revolves around a newly married couple, Whitney (Stone) and Asher (Fielder). Their happy lives get brimmed with chaos after a curse disturbs their relationship. They also try to conceive a child while working on their new HGTV show, Fliplanthropy.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Emma Stone and Nathan Fielder discussed Season 1’s divisive finale, which resulted in the shocking demise of Asher. Upon being asked about the odds of Season 2, Stone replied: “There could be.”
“There definitely could be. From the start, we had it mapped out beyond the first season,” added Fielder. The co-showrunner was also asked whether the second season would have Asher in it. He replied, “I don’t want to spoil it.”
It will be interesting to see how Asher returns in Season 2. The finale of Season 1 opens with Asher finding himself on the ceiling as if gravity has reversed for him. Moments later, we see Whitney going into labour. Her doula tries to help Asher and brings him out of the house, only to get him stuck on a tree branch. The doula decides to take Whitney to the hospital. Soon, we see Dougie (Safdie) trying to bring Asher down. He thinks Asher is having a panic attack due to Whitney’s pregnancy. After some time, we see the fire department arriving at the scene to rescue Asher. Some men from the department try to get him down by cutting the branch with the help of a chainsaw. Asher begs them not to cut the branch. Soon, we see Asher flying upwards and meeting his death because of a lack of oxygen in space. Meanwhile, Whitney starts celebrating the birth of her baby.
Asher’s death and the birth of Whitney’s baby take place at the same time. This could lead us towards Asher’s reincarnation in Season 2. Showtime has not yet greenlighted the production of The Curse Season 2. Watch the first season on Lionsgate Play. Stay tuned for more updates.
