‘The Family Man‘ is one of the most loved web shows with a huge fan following comprising of Telugu and Tamil viewers too, particularly for the 2nd season. While the Tamil and Telugu audio versions were promised to be released with the premiere, it is common knowledge that Amazon Prime Video is not very proactive in releasing dubbed versions of their features, unlike its competitors. Fans were requesting for the dubbed versions of the show for quite some time now and finally they are here.
As a matter of fact, Amazon Prime Video released ‘Mirzapur’ in Tamil and Telugu after several weeks of release, not to mention after much nagging from viewers. Despite repeated requests, the streaming platform has still not released dubbed versions for many of its popular shows like Tandav, Panchayat, Bandish Bandits, etc. It was quite expected that fans would have to wait a long time for this series too. It’s also quite strange that the dubbed versions didn’t come at the time of release, especially since the lead starcast features none other than Samantha Akkineni, one of the southern industry gems.
During this cinematic era when so many pan-India features are being created, this is a very simple and effective strategy to increase viewership and reach. It is appalling that fans have to repeatedly request for this in the first place! At a time where we are seeing so many Bollywood and Southern industry collaborations, releasing films and shows in multiple languages seem like a basic pre-requisite. Well, here’s hoping that the platform, which has quite a dedicated fan base, quickly releases dubbed versions of the shows that fans have been dying to watch in the languages they are comfortable with.
