‘The Family Man S2’: Netflix’s Epic Reply About Chellam Sir

Yesterday, streaming giant Netflix India had posted Paresh Rawal’s picture with a black cross mark, on Twitter. Along with the image, it quizzed Twitter users about the name of the character played by the eminent actor as shown in the image.

The post captured the imagination of many Twitter users as many right, wrong, and amusing replies soon started pouring in. One of the answers that caught the attention of Netflix was by a user who replied “Chellam Sir” as the (wrong) answer to the above-stated question.

In a hilarious response, Netflix replied “This isn’t Chellam sir but he would probably have the answer to who this is.” The light-hearted remark made by Netflix demonstrates that the popularity of Chellam Sir, the legendary character from ‘The Family Man S2’, is indeed off the charts.

Within the Netflix post, another interesting observation was that many users thought that the character’s name on the image was ‘Teja’ – the main antagonist of Rajkumar Santoshi’s epic comedy movie ‘Andaz Apna Apna’.

Diehard fans of the cult film would know that the correct answer to the Netflix question is Ram Gopal Bajaj. In fact, many users gave the right answer also.

Andaz Apna Apna’ was a multi-starrer laugh-riot featuring Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, and Karishma Kapoor. And Paresh Rawal played the dual roles of the upright businessman Ram Gopal Bajaj and his evil twin brother Shyam Gopal Bajaj aka Teja. The film’s climactic reels comprising a comical case of mistaken identity between the twin brothers played by Paresh Rawal was perhaps the cause for the incorrect answers.

Chellam Sir’s character has gone viral on Twitter despite having a relatively shorter screen time. Such is the character’s craze that the fans are demanding a spin-off show revolving around Chellam Sir. And it’s quite cool of Netflix to remark about Amazon Prime Video’s Chellam Sir character in a light-hearted manner.

Incidentally, ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ is currently streaming on both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video OTT platforms.
