Early reactions to Andy Muschietti’s The Flash have declared the Ezra Miller starrer one of the best DC films ever. The upcoming Warner Bros project will give a fresh spin to the classic Flashpoint storyline, in which Barry goes back in time to save his mother but ends up breaking the universe.
The film will introduce Sasha Calle’s Supergirl and brings back Ben Affleck (original Batman from Barry’s timeline), Michael Keaton (Batman from another timeline), and Michael Shannon (General Zod from Man of Steel).
Muschietti recently had an interview with Nerdist where he shared his experience while filming ‘The Flash’ and revealed interesting details about the film’s final cut.
The helmer disclosed that the original cut was nearly four hours long. But, he had to cut several scenes for the theatrical release. Yes, the forthcoming DC instalment has more cameos, surprises, and guest appearances than what we have seen in the film’s clips so far.
While speaking with Nerdist, Muschietti revealed that The Flash almost had a cameo of Grant Gustin. The actor would have played his version of the Scarlet Speedster from CW’s The Flash.
This is what Muschietti said after being asked about the film’s cameos:
“Of course, as I said before the list of cameos…was huge. So obviously we played with the idea of including DC characters from TV, but we just had to pick.”
Additionally, the filmmaker wanted to add more cameos in the film, including Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman, Cesar Romero’s Joker, and Marlon Brando’s Jor-El, the father of Kal-El, aka Superman.
The Flash will release in theatres worldwide on June 16. Stay tuned for more updates.
