SPOILER WARNING!
The fate of Andy Muschietti’s The Flash is not looking good at the box office. In its opening weekend, the latest Ezra Miller starrer collected only $139 million globally. It seems like the film is on the verge of becoming a flop. There are plenty of reasons behind this scenario; the most notable ones are the lead actor’s controversies, multiple rewrites, and the messy final act. Despite all its shortcomings, the movie is an entertaining addition to the DCEU. Its performances, in particular, have received immense praise from critics. Sasha Calle’s version of Supergirl was one of the film’s brightest points. And it looks like she is not done with the character at all.
In her recent interview with USA Today, Calle revealed that she has had meetings with Peter Safran, co-CEO of DC Studios, about the future of Supergirl.
“I hope to continue playing Supergirl. I love her so deeply and I feel so connected to her,” the actress said in her interview.
If you have watched The Flash, you know how the story of Sasha Calle’s Supergirl ends. Barry and his variant from another timeline attempt to save her and Michael Keaton’s Batman multiple times from their respective deaths but gain no success. So, seeing how DCU brings the character back will be interesting.
Although, there is one way DCU could introduce Calle’s Supergirl. She could get introduced in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, one of DCU’s upcoming flicks. However, fans could witness a different version of Kara in Woman of Tomorrow from what they watched in The Flash. The Andy Muschietti directional showed Calle’s Supergirl as a broken-down version of the superhero. She loses her calm after realising that Kal-El’s ship never managed to enter Earth. The new version of Supergirl could focus on the character’s insecure, fierce, compassionate, and impulsive persona.
DC Studios has brought back John Cena’s Peacemaker and Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller. So, we do not see why Sasha Calle could not return as Supergirl in future. Stay tuned for more updates.
