Netflix’s biggest film venture yet, The Gray Man is streaming from 22nd July. Although Netflix put all its efforts into promoting the film, what hampered the performance are reviews.
The film got a terrible response from the critics and that way it also affected the excitement people had for the film. It was similar to the reception of Red Notice which could not garner a positive response from the critics but was celebrated greatly by the audience. So much so that it soon became the most watched English film on Netflix ever. Just to make it more prominent, it still holds the same record.
Even Don’t Look Up which had superstars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lawrence, Timothee Chalamet, and Jonah Hill, could not break the record.
But given the subject of the film, far better was expected from the film which it failed to make.
As you can see, The Gray Man with 245, 090,000 hours of views, is in the fourth position.
The given data is up to August 14th which marks 23 days after the film’s release on Netflix. Only those films which perform exceptionally well in the first 28 days of release are counted in the list.
It means that there are 5 days left for the film to move ahead and it can hardly precede Bird Box.
Now, had it been just any film then it would not be a problem but seeing the most expensive venture by Netflix under performing is a concerning thing.
Thus it’s high time Netflix thinks about content more than anything else.
