After having a successful venture for almost a decade in running his own comedy talk show on TV, Kapil Sharma, India’s most celebrated comedian came up with a show in the OTT world. He launched his show ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ on Netflix on 30th March 2024. Before this he had starred in ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ (on Colours TV) and the recent ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ (on Sony TV). Both the shows became the most watched shows of their genre.
The first season of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ ran for 13 episodes from 30th March to 22nd June 2024. The show immediately gained popularity after its release. It was the first Indian series on Netflix to trend globally for a month. The format of the show was pretty much similar to his previous shows set against the backdrop of an airport terminal. Archana Puran Singh still remains the permanent guest in the show. Sumona Chakraborty and Chandan Prabhakar who had been part of Kapil’s previous shows were not seen here. The biggest change though was the recasting of Sunil Grover in the show after a long time.
After the end of the first season, people were anticipating the second season of the show to be released soon. The makers and the artists too had hinted towards it. Finally, today Netflix India officially announced the release of the second season through their YouTube channel. They posted a one-minute video in which the cast of the show announced the release date which will be 21st September. The cast in the video seems to be the same as those who were part of the first season, there seems to have been no addition or subtraction in the cast.
Audiences eagerly wait for the second season to drop with the same family-friendly comedy content with interactions with celebrities and the maddening sketches as it promises to deliver.
