And the film has received a rousing response from the audiences and is being admired in the critics’ circle as well.
In another fantastic achievement, ‘The Kashmir’ Files’ has now beaten the previously top-ranked movie ‘Jai Bhim’ on the latest IMDb top-rated Indian movies list. This means that ‘The Kashmir Files’ now holds the top rank on IMDb and has even surpassed some fine Indian films such as ‘3 Idiots’, ‘Soorarai Pottru’, ‘Sardar Udham’, ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’, ‘Lagaan’, and ‘Chak De! India’ and many more. The second rank on the IMDb list is currently held by ‘Jai Bhim’.
‘The Kashmir Files’ currently boasts a perfect score of 10/10 on its IMDb homepage and has been voted by more than 19000 IMDb users. Moreover, the hard-hitting film has garnered an impressive 98% score on popular movie ticketing portal BookMyShow based on around 27000 ratings.
Written and directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, ‘The Kashmir Files’ revolves around the sensitive subject matter pertaining to the exodus of Kashmiris Hindus, also known as Kashmiri Pandits, during the 1990s period due to the insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir.
‘The Kashmir Files’ features veteran actors Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Pallavi Joshi alongside ‘The Family Man’ actor Darshan Kumar in important roles. Prior to ‘The Kashmir Files’, Vivek Agnihotri had helmed India’s first crowd-sourced thriller ‘The Tashkent Files’. The film revolved around the death of former Indian prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. Now, it would be interesting to observe whether ‘The Kashmir Files’ can retain the top spot on the IMDb top 250 Indian movies list. Nevertheless, and more importantly, the film has won the audience’s hearts.
