Right after the theatrical release of Vivek Agnihotri’s latest directorial ‘The Kashmir Files’ on 11th March 2022, the film had become a major point of discussion amongst cinephiles across the country. And now, there is a big official update for those who have been eagerly waiting for the release of ‘The Kashmir Files’ on an OTT platform.
We are delighted to inform our readers that ‘The Kashmir Files’ is all set to start streaming on the Zee5 OTT platform from 13th May 2022, that is, almost two months after the film had released in theatres. It could be streamed in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada languages.
Made on a small budget, ‘The Kashmir Files’ eventually became one of the biggest box office hits of 2022. The film has grossed over a massive Rs.339 crores at the box office worldwide.
Moreover, the movie currently holds an impressive user rating of 8.3/10 on the reputed international movies database portal IMDb based on around 543k votes.
‘The Kashmir Files’ revolves around the sensitive subject matter pertaining to the exodus of Kashmiris Hindus, also known as Kashmiri Pandits, during the 1990s period in the Jammu and Kashmir region.
Narrated in two timelines, the film’s plot follows a Kashmiri Hindu college student named Krishna (Darshan Kumar). After his parents are killed, he is adopted by schoolteacher Pushkar Nath (Anupam Kher). Eventually, Krishna sets out to find the truth about his family’s death. The movie also features veteran actors Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi in important roles.
After the phenomenal success of ‘The Kashmir Files’, all eyes will now be on the National Award-winning filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s next venture, which is the third installment of the ‘Files’ franchise – ‘The Delhi Files’. Until then, those who missed watching ‘The Kashmir Files’ in cinemas can watch it on the Zee5 OTT platform from 13th May 2022.
