After the theatrical release of Vivek Agnihotri’s last year’s directorial venture ‘The Kashmir Files’, the film had become a major point of discussion amongst cinephiles across the country. The movie’s mind-boggling box-office numbers were accompanied by its hard-hitting impact and the widespread attention it has received from a large segment of audiences.
Amidst the controversies related to the film, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri had previously announced a follow up project titled ‘The Kashmir Files: Unreported’. However, it was earlier not known whether the project will take the web series route or whether it will be presented as a film or a documentary. But earlier today, it has been revealed through a poster that ‘The Kashmir Files: Unreported’ will be a series and a teaser has also been unveiled.
‘The Kashmir Files: Unreported’ is being described by the makers as a series which will narrate “the untold stories of Kashmir’s tragic history and would speak about the harsh unspoken realities of free India’s biggest tragedy. It would ostensibly focus on neglected chapters of Kashmiri Pandits’ history.” The series would soon start streaming on the Zee5 OTT platform, which is also the streaming home of ‘The Kashmir Files’.
‘The Kashmir Files: Unreported’ teaser apparently features interviews from the people who suffered during the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus, also known as Kashmiri Pandits, during the 1990s period in the Jammu and Kashmir region.
The parent film ‘The Kashmir Files’ was narrated in two timelines and the film’s plot followed a Kashmiri Hindu college student named Krishna (Darshan Kumar). After his parents are killed, he is adopted by schoolteacher Pushkar Nath (Anupam Kher). Eventually, Krishna sets out to find the truth about his family’s death. Considering the film’s phenomenal commercial success, all eyes will now be on Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files: Unreported’ series on Zee5. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on the same.
Some tragedies are still yearning for a closure.
