The Kerala Story, although controversial, is a massive success in the theaters. The movie even after a significantly small budget is doing phenomenally well at the box office. Thanks to the noise around the film.
However, it is also pushing a Swedish series on Netflix India to trend. We are talking about Caliphate.
The Swedish series “Caliphate” has been making waves on Netflix India, drawing in audiences with its intense and gripping storyline. The series, which was released in Sweden in 2020, has been lauded for its realistic portrayal of the complex issue of radicalization and terrorism.
The story follows a group of women who were brainwashed and then recruited by ISIS to join their caliphate in Syria. One of the women, Sulle, becomes disillusioned with the group and contacts a journalist in Sweden, who begins investigating the situation. The plot thickens as the journalist’s investigation brings her into contact with a Swedish security agent who is also investigating the case, and they work together to try to prevent a terrorist attack in Sweden.
The series has been praised for its authentic and nuanced portrayal of the psychological and emotional manipulation that leads people to become involved with extremist groups, as well as its depiction of the impact of terrorism on individuals and communities.
However, the show has also attracted criticism for its graphic violence and disturbing imagery, which some viewers may find difficult to watch.
Whatever the case may be, Caliphate is a three year old show which is finally getting revived by The Kerala Story.
Just completed Swedish series Caliphate on Netflix. It shows how ISIS brainwashes, radicalizes and recruits young European girls and sends them to Raqqa, Syria. Must watch.
Does someone in Bollywood have the balls to come up with such content?
