Episode 6 of HBO’s The Last Of Us is currently streaming on the Disney+ Hotstar streaming platform for Indian viewers.
The latest episode turned out to be another emotional rollercoaster ride like previous ones. However, it gave a mammoth-sized heartbreak to the fans in the form of Joel’s death. Yup, Ellie’s protector died during the final moments of Episode 6. Or that’s what it looked like to viewers. Fans are wondering if the fan-favourite character is really dead.
Joel gets stabbed by an unknown attacker while protecting Ellie from him in Colorado. As a result, he starts losing a lot of blood. Ellie somehow gets him on a horse, and they both escape from the hands of the remaining attackers. After reaching a safe place, Joel suddenly falls on the snowy ground due to an immense loss of blood. Ellie begs him to stay alive as she cannot survive without him. Boom! The episode ends!
HBO’s latest show differs from the original Naughty Dog game in several ways. For example, Bill and Frank were alive when they met Joel and Ellie in the video game. On the other hand, we got an emotionally charged background story of the lovely duo in the show. After spending a happy life together for nearly 20 years, the couple died together as they were not ready to live without each other. Plus, there’s no Kathleen in the game. Makers especially developed the character for the tv series to give the latter more depth. Furthermore, Joel and Tommy’s reunion is not heartwarming in the game at all. Instead, a group of bandits immediately ruin their reunion, leading to a big-scale shootout.
Imagining ‘The Last Of Us’ without Joel is impossible. If he indeed meets his maker, that would be a huge deviation in terms of the storyline as he survives the deadly stab in the video game. The show stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. Stay tuned for more updates.
