Marvel was secretly developing a Wonder Man series on DisneyPlus. Marvel is known for consistency in their series and they are really good at that. Some series like Moon Knight, WandaVision, and Loki were greatly appreciated while some like She-Hulk: Attorney At Law was brutally grilled by both audience and critics alike.
But now, after much anticipation, the company has locked the leading actor for essaying the titular character.
According to confirmed sources, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will be playing the lead role in the series.
The character of Wonder Man is called Simon Williams and he is the son of the industrialist, Sanford Williams. His father has an ammunition factory and his only competition is Stark Industries.
The character attains ion-based superpowers, which include enormous strength while working under the bad guy Baron Zemo. Ultimately he comes in the bad books of the Avengers and they start looking at him as an antagonist. But the events turn around in a way that he later decides to become part of that superhero team.
The show will be directed by Daniel Cretton. We have previously seen Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in films such as Ambulance, The Matrix Resurrections, Nia DaCosta’s Candyman sequel, and The Trial Of The Chicago 7.
