Netflix Geeked Week is finally over. For those of you who don’t know, Geeked Week is a sort of fan festival in which Netflix announces or updates about the already announced titles. So talking about just yesterday, Netflix wrapped the Geeked week.
So, as we have always complained about the exclusion of Indian content from such festivals, we must not be doing so this year because of The Archies.
The movie’s trailer was launched in the same Geeked Week. In fact, The Archies even in the TUDUM Festival and received inclusion. But, we must rethink the India limitation here.
Other than RRR (Hindi) and The Archies, Netflix has not promoted any Indian content so far. Let’s talk about today. Netflix renewed Kaala Paani, the enormously successful series for a second season. Obviously, it can’t be possible that one fine evening, the Netflix command sat and said “Hey, let’s announce the renewal of Kaala Paani”.
It must have been a planned event and we wonder why this planning was not included in Geeked Week. After all, Kaala Paani is a very very successful show and it deserves every respect.
This is perhaps the “India” limitation of Netflix India. Even good and successful series don’t qualify to the International standards. And one more question… why is “The Archies” so special and the gems like Kaala Paani aren’t?
Well, that is for another day.
