Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja‘s Khiladi was supposed to release in May but the COVID second wave played a spoilsport. There are rumors that the movie will skip its theatrical release and opt for an OTT release. Director Ramesh Verma says that is not going to happen and they will wait for the theaters to open. He even says there is no excitement in the audience over watching a film on OTT, unlike the last year.
“Khiladi is a 100 percent theater film. Many films released online last year. There is no such excitement this year. The audience tends to watch films in parts on streaming platforms and the entire family does not get to sit together and watch a film peacefully. But there is no such problem with a theater release. We want to give such an experience with Khiladi,” the director said.
The Post-theatrical rights of Khiladi are with Amazon Prime Video. Devi Sri Prasad is rendering soundtracks for the film which has Meenakshi Chaudhary and Dimple Hayathi as the heroines. Lucifer fame Sujith Vasudev and Kick fame GK Vishnu have handled the camera. Interestingly, Ravi Teja and Ramesh Verma delivered a disaster like Veera a few years ago. The duo is looking to make amends to that failure with this Khiladi.
