The release date and a beautifully executed teaser video for the highly anticipated Tamil anthology series ‘Navarasa’ has been unveiled by the makers. A brainchild of virtuoso filmmaker Mani Ratnam in collaboration with Jayendra Panchapakesan, the series will release on 6th August 2021 on the Netflix streaming platform.
‘Navarasa’ is another big-ticket Tamil project released on Netflix platform after the Dhanush starrer Tamil action flick ‘Jagame Thandhiram’. The anthology series marks a one of its kind creative collaboration between the Tamil film industry stalwarts.
You might already be aware that the nine-part series will feature nine different stories that will be based on the nine ‘rasas’ or emotions namely anger, compassion, courage, disgust, fear, laughter, love, peace, and wonder. These nine films will be helmed by nine eminent filmmakers – Arvind Swami, Bejoy Nambiar, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Karthick Naren, Karthik Subbaraj, Priyadarshan, Rathindran Prasad, Sarjun, and Vasanth Sai.
Into the bargain, the stories will feature acclaimed performers like Vijay Sethupathy, Prakash Raj, Revathy, Nithya Menon, Yogi Babu, Arvind Swami, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Siddharth, Gautham Karthik, Suriya amongst other supremely talented actors.
So, as you can observe, ‘Nine’ is the key number here. Nine different stories comprising nine human emotions helmed by nine filmmakers. The ‘Navarasa’ teaser was released today at 9:09 PM. However, we fail to understand why the series is not being released on 9th August or even better on 9th September instead of 6th August. But, who cares, the sooner it releases, the better it is for the audiences who are waiting with bated breaths to experience such a grand vision being brought to our screens.
The aesthetically executed ‘Navarasa’ teaser is around two and a half minutes long and it has been made in black and white by accomplished filmmaker Bharat Bala. In the teaser, the various actors are seen expressing different emotions that is in line with the show’s primary premise – nine human emotions. The teaser has certainly upped the curiosity quotient amongst fans and that certainly includes us.
‘Navarasa’ is scheduled to stream on the Netflix OTT platform from 6th August 2021, onwards.
