One would expect the movie to be another sequel that nobody asked for, yet still got made because sequels and reboots are huge cash cow opportunities for the studios. Well, not this movie. The recently released trailer of the movie has set the mood for the movie, as Puss in Boots voiced by Academy Award nominee Antonio Banderas(The Mask Of Zorro) seems to be as fun as he then was, and certainly looks worth a watch.
The trailer of the movie, titled ‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish’ has us watching Puss, as he embarks on an epic journey into the Black Forest to find the mythical Wishing Star. As we say, cats have nine lives and it seems that due to his life of exciting yet dangerous adventures, Puss is left with his last life, and needs the star to restore his lost lives. Puss is seen humbling himself and asking for help from his former partner and nemesis: the captivating Kitty Soft Paws, reprised by the timeless Salma Hayek.
In their quest, Puss and Kitty will be aided by a ratty, chatty, ever-optimist Perro (Harvey Guillén, What We Do in the Shadows). Together, our trio of heroes will have to stay one step ahead of Goldilocks (Florence Pugh, Black Widow) and the Three Bears Crime Family, “Big” Jack Horner (Emmy winner John Mulaney, Big Mouth), and terrifying bounty hunter, The Big Bad Wolf (Wagner Moura, Narcos). With an ensemble star cast and the right dose of nostalgia, the makers have really gone all out for the return of everyone’s favorite fear-defying feline.
The character of Puss in Boots first appeared in 2004’s Oscar®-nominated Shrek 2 and instantly became a global, scene-stealing sensation. Puss then co-starred in two other Shrek sequels, his solo film in 2011, and in multiple DreamWorks Animation videos and TV series. The Shrek and Puss in Boots films have collectively earned more than $3.5 billion worldwide.
‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish’ is set to release in theatres during Christmas. The release date is yet to be announced.
