Netflix is gearing up to release an interesting crime and suspense series ‘Bodkin’. Set in the backdrop of an old-school Irish town, ‘Bodkin’ promises to be a dark and thrilling suspense series. The upcoming series will premiere on Netflix worldwide on 9th May, 2024.
Interestingly, Bodkin comes from Higher Ground Productions, the production company owned by Barack and Michelle Obama. Bodkin will be their first drama series for Netflix, the others having been documentary series until now. Higher Ground Productions has in place a multi-year, multi-series deal with Netflix.
The story of ‘Bodkin’ is a dark comedic thriller about a motely crew of podcasters who set out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in an idyllic, coastal irish town. But once they start pulling threads, they discover a story much bigger and weirder than they could have ever imagined.
As the three try to discern fact from fiction – about the case, about their colleagues, and, most painfully, themselves – the series challenges our perception of truth and exposes the stories we tell ourselves to justify our beliefs or validate our fears.
Bodkin is written by Jez Scharf, along with Mike O’Leary. Scharf is also the showrunner of the series, alongside Alex Metcalf (Sharp Objects). Nash Edgerton has directed Bodkin. The cast of Bodkin is led by Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth), who plays American podcaster Gilbert Power, always on the hunt for his next big story.
Siobhan Cullen (The Dry) plays a hard-nosed investigative journalist, while Robyn Cara (Ackley Bridge) plays chief researcher on Gilbert’s podcast project. David Wilmot, Chris Walley, David Pearse, Clodagh Mooney Duggan, Pano Masti, Charlie Kelly, among others, form the rest of the cast.
