The first look of the upcoming spy drama series of FX “The Old Man” has been unveiled which features Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow. Jeff Bridges has been diagnosed with cancer in 2020 and “The Old Man” will mark his return into the industry after a break. This is also his first recurring television role in more than 50 years.
The first two episodes of the series are directed by Jon Watts, the same director of “Spiderman No Way Home” which will be released together as a special premier . The series is based on the best selling novel written by Thomas Perry in 2017 which is of the same name and Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine Warren Littlefield, Dan Shotz, David Schiff and Jon Watts are credited as the creators of the show.
In the series Jeff Bridges will be playing as Dan Chase who is a retired CIA agent and is leading a peaceful life. But then he is forced to return his agent alias when an assassin arrives and targets him. The series is set in a thriller mood and high action sequences are also expected since it is a spy centric series.
The cast of the series also includes John Lithgow, Alia Shawkat, E.J. Bonilla, Gbenga Akinnagbe and Amy Brenneman in other major roles. The production of the series began early and was set to release in 2020, but because of the pandemic and Jeff Bridges diagnosis of cancer, the series got delayed.
But now it has finally decided to air the show on June 16 2022 exclusively on FX. And if you miss the premier you can watch it on Hulu where it will be streaming on the next day.
