‘The Proud Family’ was one of the most adored TV series by Disney. The series aired on TV way back from 2001 to 2005, but viewers still love the animated series for its refreshing premise and relatable characters. Now Disney has green-lit a reboot of the show, to be released on Disney+, its streaming platform.
The new series will be called The Proud Family: Louder And Prouder. All the central characters of the show will make a comeback to the narrative, as will the original voice cast.
The series revolves around the Proud family, with central character 15-year-old Penny Proud, leading the charge. The family consists of her twin siblings, the tweens BeBe and CeCe, her parents Oscar and Trudy, and her grandmom, Suga Mama. The supporting cast comprises Dijonay Jones, LaCienega Boulevardez, Zoey Howzer and Uncle Bobby.
The original voice cast that will be back for the reboot includes Kyla Pratt as Penny, Tommy Davidson as Oscar, Paula Jai Parker as Trudy, Jo Marie Payton as Suga Mama, Karen Malina White as Dijonay Jones, Soleil Moon Frye as Zoey Howzer, Alisa Reyes as LaCienega Boulevardez, and Cedric the Entertainer as Uncle Bobby.
Also taking charge of the show’s production side will be original series creator Bruce W. Smith, who’s also the executive producer along with Ralph Farquhar. Bruce and Ralph conveyed to the media via a prepared statement, “In our minds, the show never really went away, as we still had tons of stories left to tell. It’s the perfect time to bring back this show, and we can’t wait to take fans, old and new alike, on this journey with us.”
The Proud Family is available on Disney+, if anyone wants to watch. Watch this space at Binged.com for further details on the release date of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.
