After notifying that the anticipated Bengali movie ‘Putul Nacher Itikotha’ or ‘The Puppet’s Tale’ is having its theatrical release on the 13th of September, there seems to be another inconvenience as the movie seems to be pulled out of theaters and there are no shows featured for booking in sites like BookMyShow or PVR Inox.
This is curious and painstaking at the same time and raises the question that if the makers and distributors were not ready to release the movie, why did they notify the release on the 13th. It is strange that a movie of this scale is facing so many difficulties in having a smooth release.
The condition that the Bengali film industry is in right now is not completely satisfiable. And if incidents like this continue to happen in the future, the industry will surely face an inevitable doom. In the last decade we have seen how the Tollgunge industry has gone from something to rever to something utterly negligible and this is due to the ignorance of makers and distributors of how to market and promote a movie so that it works in favour of them.
The movie was announced three years back and with such a beautiful cast and crew it is still hanging in the production stage. It is painful to see that a literary masterpiece like ‘Putul Nacher Itikotha’ is being adapted into a movie and there is no noise about it anywhere on social media or any media whatsoever.
