When Kabir Khan’s spy actioner ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ released back in the year 2012, who thought the film would not only become such a big theatrical hit but also be the starting point of a blockbuster action franchise! Until now, five films have been released under the YRF Spy Universe and the latest being ‘Tiger 3’. Collectively, they have grossed more than a whopping Rs.2800 crores at the box-office.
As you all know, the immensely talented actress Alia Bhatt was cast as the first female lead in a film under the ambit of the YRF Spy Universe which features superstars like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Hrithik Roshan.
And now, as per the latest update about the eagerly anticipated Alia Bhatt starrer YRF project, the film has got its director. The movie will be directed by Shiv Rawail, who is still riding high after the widespread acclaim of the YRF web series ‘The Railway Men’, which was about the courageous efforts of a group of railway workers, who try their best to save lives after the1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy.
From a creative perspective, roping in Shiv Rawail as the director of Alia Bhatt’s Spy Universe film is a bang on decision considering the way the filmmaker has proved his mettle with ‘The Railway Men’, which turned out to be one of the best reviewed Indian web series from the year 2023.
Besides Alia Bhatt, the YRF Spy Universe film will also star ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’ actress Sharvari Wagh. They will essay the roles of super agents in the yet-untitled female-led action film. There is a strong possibility that some of the other lead characters (Salman, SRK, Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Katrina Kaif) from the YRF Spy Universe will be seen alongside Alia Bhatt in the movie.
