The official trailer for ‘The Room Next Door’ is out now. It is the first English language film from filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar. The director is known for crafting amazing stories like ‘Kika’, ‘Matador’, ‘All About My Mother’, ‘Pain and Glory’ and more. The movie is based on the 2020 novel ‘What Are You Going Through’ written by Sigrid Nunez that gathered huge critical acclaim at the time of its publishing.
The movie stars two Academy Award winning actresses Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton. It is going to premiere at the Venice Film Festival this year. The trailer looks fascinating and it is a real visual treat. And much of the credit goes to the cinematographer Edu Grau. The music is composed by Alberto Iglesias. It has the Pedro Almodóvar signature all over it.
The plot is not very clear from the trailer but we can give you some hints on the story from the book that it is based on. It will be the story of Ingrid, played by Julianne Moore, and Martha, played by Swinton, who used to be friends before circumstances made them estranged. Ingrid goes on to be an author and Martha becomes a war journalist. As fate brings them closer after a long time, Martha struggles with a difficult relationship with her daughter while trying to deal with the new-found friendship.
