A new political thriller titled ‘The Secret Agent’ is now under development. It will be starring Wagner Moura, the ‘Civil War’ actor, in the lead role and will be directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho. Filho has directed films like ‘Pictures Of Ghosts’, ‘Bacurau’, ‘Aquarius’ and ‘The Secret Agent’ is the passion project of the director.
The film is being produced under the banner of Cinemascopio and MK Productions. MK Productions helmed some great projects like ‘Cold War’ and ‘The Worst Person In The World’.
The movie is set in the 1970s and tells the story of Brazil’s military coup. Such a historical event has a huge potential of storytelling and filmmaking with passion. The movie will also incorporate elements of Brazilian folklore into it. Wagner Moura is known for his wonderful performance as Pablo Escobar in ‘Narcos’. He will be playing the role of a professor who is on the run because of political disagreements with the regime. He tries to come back and reconcile with his son, but is spied on by neighbours and has to think of surviving on the run again. Maria Fernanda Candido plays the female lead in the movie.
Further details of the movie will be revealed later on. The screenplay of the film is ready but the shooting has not reportedly started yet.
