The official first look of ‘The Smashing Machine’ is out now. The movie stars Dwanye Johnson a.k.a The Rock in the lead role and has Emily Blunt as the female lead. The movie will be the honest biopic of MMA icon Mark Kerr. Emily Blunt will play his wife Dawn Staples in the movie.
The Smashing Machine comes from A24 and marks the solo feature debut of filmmaker Benny Safdie. He has previously worked with his brother in films like ‘Good Time’ and ‘Uncut Gems’. Benny and Emily Blunt worked together in the movie ‘Oppenheimer’.
In the first look picture, Dwayne Johnson stars as a ripped Kerr sitting in the corner of the ring. There is some works of prosthetics as well to make him look similar to Kerr.
The Smashing Machine will be a very motivating documentation of Kerr’s rise to fame and popularity. Mark Kerr won more than twenty titles in MMA and was a two time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion. Mark Kerr went on to the top of the game from a fatal addiction to drugs. His marriage hampered his rise to success as well. But despite every calamity, he went on to be one of the biggest fighters in history.
The film is being produced under the banners of Out for the Count and Seven Bucks Productions. The release dates and other details have not been revealed as of now.
