Voot recently released an official trailer for the ‘The Stand‘ which is an official adaptation of the 1978 novel of the same name by Stephen King. The acclaimed novel is considered one of the finest works of King and has been the source of many other adaptations as well. The most celebrated one is the miniseries from 1994 of the same name.
Talking about the 2020 adaptation, the show is created by John Boone and Benjamin Cavell whereas Boone also serves as the director. The Stand is produced by CBS Television Studios.
The story follows a dystopian post apocalyptic world where half of the population has been wiped out by a plague caused by a man made virus named ‘Captain Tips’, leaving the rest of the population terrified of their survival. Their lives have become a continuous struggle between good and the evil. The survivors’ lead by Stu Redman & Larry Underwood only hope is the veteran 108 year old lady who is commonly known as Mother Abagail. According to the survivors she has assembled them by coming into their dreams for the coming war where they might have to choose sides.
Their enemy is the fearful dark man named Randall Flagg who calls himself the Messiah of the remaining population. He has enormous amount of powers and with the help of them he wishes to command the living population in Earth. Now for that he has started creating his army. Ultimately it is the battle between Mother Abagail and The Dark Man. The latter who is getting stronger everyday will be destroying everyone who is against his path and the world which he’ll be ruling is going to be full of fear and sorrow. Who wins?
The show is packed with blockbuster starcast as it involves :- James Marsden, Alexander Skarsgard, Amber Heard, Greg Kinnear, Odessa Young, Whoopi Goldberg, Ezra Miller and others.
The Stand will be premiering on CBS All Access In USA and it will have its direct release on Voot Select on 17th December 2020.
