The Top Actors Who Debuted In OTT in 2020

2020 was the undisputed year for OTT platforms. There is no single person who can deny the fact that OTT platforms came as a savior for the entertainment industry who was looking dumbfounded when the decision to close the theatres came out from the government.

And this decision came as a blessing in disguise as we discovered several of new talents be it that of actors, writers, directors, musicians etc. People loved seeing actors in the smaller screens and the actors too enjoyed a huge fan following. Here are the best OTT debuts of 2020 –

Pratik Gandhi:

Pratik Gandhi, a name which we have become too familiar of in the past few months. He became an overnight sensation with his portrayal of the stock broker Harshad Mehta in Scam 1992 : The Harshad Mehta Story. With excellent dialogue delivery and the natural charm he brought onto the screen he has etched a special place in everyone’s hearts. Gandhi, who is a regular feature in Gujarati film industry, has appeared in few bollywood movies as well but his role as the shrewed minded stock broker is the one he’ll be remembering the most! Let’s hope we’ll be seeing him regularly!

Sushmita Sen:

Sushmita Sen returned to the screens after a decade and showed us how she still is the queen. Her comeback series Aarya on Disney+ Hotstar became the favorite of audience. Her portrayal of an elegant, brave and clever woman who juggles between her family whilst taking charge of her husband’s business is brilliant. We see several shades of her versatility in Aarya and needless to say she gained acclaim from everyone.

Karan Tacker:

The handsome Karan Tacker has been a seasoned actors who has appeared in the small screen often. But his turn to shine came with the espionage thriller by Neeraj Pandey – Special OPS. His portrayal of Farooq Ali, a spy on a mission is commendable. With the lavish style set the series was set on, the role was suited for Tacker who only impressed everyone with his talent.

Bobby Deol:

Bobby Deol had an outstanding 2020 with the OTT platforms. While his debut Class of 83 on Netflix was a dud affair, he got his share of appreciation with the MX Player’s crime drama series ‘Aashram’ where he played the character of Baba Nirala, a self proclaimed godman with dark secrets beneath his life. And without a doubt, Bobby Deol with ‘Aashram’ delivered an explosive performance.

Arshad Warsi:

When people say that a comic actor cannot do serious roles, they are wrong! Arshad Warsi with Voot’s Asur : Welcome To Your Dark Side proved it. He essayed the role of forensic expert Dhananjay Rajput who gets framed for the murder of his wife. Caught between the mysteries of mythology with limited time in his hands before anyone else gets hurt, Warsi delivered a engaging performance with Asur.

Tripti Dimri:

Tripti Dimri played the role of Bulbbul in Netflix’s Bulbbul, a horror thriller produced by Anushka Sharma. She looked breathtaking throughout the movie and displayed her characters emotions beautifully.

Jennifer Winget:

Jennifer Winget made her terrific debut in the OTT industry with AltBalaji’s Code M. Winget played the character of Monica Mehrs an army lawyer and a bride-to-be. She gets an assignment to investigate the encounter of two terrorists which also resulted in the death of an army soldier. But as she furthers into her investigation, she finds out a deeper web of dark secrets which are being hidden from everyone. Jennifer Winget did a brilliant job as the clever army official who will go to any lengths to uncover the mystery.

Abhishek Bachchan:

Abhishek Bachchan also got appreciation after arriving onto the OTT market. He acted in Amazon’s Breathe : Into The Shadows and garnered huge acclaim for his portrayal of Avinash Sabharwal and his split personality J. He delivered a sincere performance and it was a delight to see him back onto the screens. Junior Bachchan also had another release on OTT – Netflix’s Ludo which went over to win him more praise.

Ishwak Singh:

Ishwak Singh became the country’s heartthrob after his portrayal of Imran Ansari a junior inspector in Amazon Prime’s crime thriller Paatal Lok. His innocent yet charming personality of going by the books
on screen made everyone gush over him.
