Nielsen’s latest overall top ten overall streaming titles list (for the week of 26th June to 2nd July 2023) is out now. And continuing its winning streak from last week, the legal drama series ‘Suits’ has once again bagged the top spot on the coveted list with 3.14 billion minutes of viewing under its belt (a whopping 35% increase from last week).
Interestingly, the show’s ninth and final season concluded in the year 2019 but ‘Suits’ still found a place on Nielsen because it recently started streaming on Netflix US and found renewed popularity among OTT audiences. In India, ‘Suits’ is already streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Jio Cinema OTT platforms. The show’s underlying plot revolves around how a gifted college dropout Mike Ross lands a job with a successful New York based lawyer Harvey Specter.
On the second place of Nielsen overall top ten streaming list for the same period is the fantasy drama series ‘The Witcher’ (1.3 billion minutes), whose first volume of Season-3 started streaming on Netflix from 29th June and the second volume premiered on 27th July. The show is expected to stay in Nielsen’s top ten list for the coming weeks because Vol.2 viewing figures are yet to be taken into account.
‘The Witcher Season-3’ will be the last one to feature Henry Cavill as ‘Geralt of Rivia’, a professional monster hunter with special powers. His destiny makes him cross paths with Princess Ciri and the sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg as they navigate their way through a corrupt medieval fantasy world called The Continent. The show’s third season is inspired by the second part of Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher book series titled ‘Time of Contempt’.
Besides ‘Suits’ and ‘The Witcher’, other titles on the Nielsen overall top ten list include Hulu’s culinary drama series ‘The Bear’ (1.01 billion minutes), sci-fi anthology Netflix series ‘Black Mirror’ (853 million minutes), and the Prime Video spy thriller series ‘Jack Ryan’ (778 million minutes), amongst other titles.
It is interesting to note that on the latest Nielsen top ten overall streaming list, six out of ten titles are streaming on the Netflix OTT platform. While the other titles are streaming on the Paramount+, Hulu, Max, Peacock, Prime Video, and Disney+ streaming services.
