Reports regarding Shang-Chi 2’s production update are circulating on social media for some time now. It is clear that the production of the upcoming MCU sequel will commence in the spring of 2024. The film reportedly will be an adventure saga tackling ‘time’. And Shang-Chi will lead a team of Asiatic superheroes, created by Agent Jimmy Woo.
Check out who may appear in Shang-Chi’s sophomore instalment!
Sword Master (Lin Lie)
Lin Lie, aka Sword Master, is a popular Chinese superhero. In 2018, the character made his debut in Chinese digital comics. Sometime later, he debuted in the American comic market through ‘War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas’ comic book series, written by Greg Pak and pencilled by Gang Hyuk Lim.
Sword Master shares great chemistry with Shang-Chi. The latter has mentored him in the popular multiple-part story, Sword Master & Shang-Chi Master Class.
Leiko Wu
Leiko Wu is a highly skilled Chinese-British M16 agent and also Shang-Chi’s first love interest. The character debuted in ‘Master of Kung-Fu’ #33. She has fought alongside Shang-Chi countless times and even aided him in taking down his father, Zheng Zu, in the comics. However, their love did not last long as Shang-Chi decided to retire from M16. On the other hand, Leiko Wu stayed with the organisation.
Xu Xialing
Shang-Chi’s young sister, Xu Xialing, may become a part of the Asian superhero team in the forthcoming sequel. She is as equally talented as her brother and possesses a rebellious spirit. Her qualities will help Shang-Chi’s team. Fans know that she starts training men and women of Ten Rings in the post-credits scene of ‘The Legend of the Ten Rings’, despite promising her brother that she would disband the deadly organisation. This scenario may create a rift between them.
Shang-Chi 2 is expected to take inspiration from Jeff Parker’s comic book series, Agent of Atlas (2006). Stay tuned for more updates.
