The first look poster features lead stars Meera Chopra as Kaali, dressed in a white saree and a big maangtika on the forehead and Abhay Verma as Chaandi, wearing a black brassiere. Both the characters display a deep sad look emoted through their eyes.
‘Safed’ marks the directorial debut of acclaimed producer Sandeep Singh, known for bankrolling films like ‘Ram-Leela’, ‘Mary Kom’, ‘Rowdy Rathore’, ‘PM Narendra Modi’, ‘Aligarh’, ‘Sarbjit’, ‘Bhoomi’, ‘Jhund’ and more.
Singh describes ’Safed’ as a story that remains largely untold, a narrative that is underlined with stereotypical attitudes, and the truth that has to be told wholesome. He says, “It is humbling and encouraging that I begin with a story that comes from a world that most of us know so little about; a story that pains my heart in a way that gives me happiness.”
Earlier, Hina Khan had also revealed the poster of her second film ‘Country Of Blind’ at the Cannes Film Festival 2022 – Indian Pavilion. ‘Country of Blind’ is an Indo-Western film written and directed by Rahat Kazmi and is based on 1904 H. G. Wells’ story of the same name.

Hina plays the role of a visually impaired girl in the film that is set in the valleys of Kashmir. As per the official synopsis, ‘Country of Blind’ follows Abhimanyu, an expert mountain climber who falls into a strange and isolated society of “non-seeing” people – claimed to have been in existence for fifteen generations and cut off from the rest of the world. Abhimanyu decides quickly that “in country of the blind, the one-eyed man is king”. He fails in his efforts and gets trapped instead.
This is the second time Hina unveiled the first look of her film at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, the first time it was for her first film ‘Lines’ in 2019.
Also, popular television star Helly Shah is attending this year’s Cannes Film Festival to launch her debut film ‘Kaya Palat’ first look poster. Based on a true story of rival mafias the film is a dark thriller set in Jammu directed by Shoaib Nikash Shah who has co-written it with Rahat Kazmi.
