James Gunn’s ‘Superman: Legacy’ will be the first feature project from James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU. So far, the film’s cast looks stacked yet impressive. Replacing Henry Cavill as the new Man of Steel, David Corenswet was cast for the iconic DC character in June this year. Alongside Corenswet, we also witnessed Rachel Brosnahan grabbing the role of Lois Lane for the upcoming DCU project.
Scheduled to hit the theatres globally in July 2025, ‘Superman: Legacy’ will focus on Clark Kent trying to balance his human upbringing with his Kryptonian heritage. Gunn has already confirmed that this version of Superman will be different and more light-hearted than Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel (2013).

Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo)
The majority of the DC fanbase has already approved Skyler Gisondo’s selection for the role of Jimmy Olsen. His amazing performances in hit TV shows like Santa Clarita Diet and The Righteous Gemstones prove that the American actor is capable of handling both serious and comedic roles. Jimmy Olsen is one of Superman’s closest friends and the superhero’s avid supporter in the comics. Both Olsen and Clark Kent work at the Daily Planet.
Eve Teschmacher (Sara Sampaio)
The popular Portuguese model Sara Sampaio will play Eve Teschmacher in James Gunn’s upcoming feature directional project. Teschmacher debuted in the world of cinema through Richard Donner’s classic Superman (1978), played by Valerie Perrine. Andrea Brooks portrayed the character in the Supergirl series from the CW’s Arrowverse. Teschmacher is Lex Luthor’s assistant and his love interest. She has helped Luthor on many occasions in his schemes against the Last Son of Krypton. However, she later develops a soft spot for Superman.
Guy Gardner, aka The Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion)
Nathan Fillion was cast as Guy Gardner, aka Green Lantern, in July this year. The ‘Castle’ actor has collaborated with James Gunn on many projects, including Slither (2006), Super (2010), The Suicide Squad (2021), and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 (2023). Debuting in 1968 through the ‘Green Lantern’ #59 comic book series, Gardner was originally considered a backup for Hal Jordan. However, his backstory has evolved over the years and has gained more emotional depth. He is an athlete and a former teacher who gets chosen by a Green Lantern power ring.
Michael Holt, aka Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi)
You may remember Edi Gathegi from X-Men: First Class (2011), in which he played Darwin, a mutant born with the ability of ‘reactive evolution’. And now, he is all set to play Michael Holt, the second Mister Terrific in ‘Superman: Legacy’. Gathegi’s version of the character does not possess any innate abilities. But he does possess amazing physical traits and a mind of genius. His specialities include engineering, physics, and martial arts.
Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced)
Dora and the Lost City of Gold fame, Isabela Merced, will play Hawkgirl. Although, we do not know which version of the DC character she will portray in the film. But she shares a strong connection with Hawkman, played by Aldis Hodge in Black Adam (2022). Many versions of Hawkgirl have appeared in the comics, with Kendra Saunders and Shiera Hall being the most prominent ones.
Rex Mason, aka Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan)
Anthony Carrigan is best known for his work in shows like Gotham (Fox) and Barry (HBO). He will play Metamorpho in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy. His character’s original name is Rex Mason, who was a normal security guard. But he transformed into Metamorpho after encountering a radioactive meteor. He possesses the ability to transform his body into different elemental substances.
