‘Under the Shadow’ is set against the backdrop of the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s period. The film’s basic plot follows a Tehran-based woman named Shideh, whose doctor husband is called for his services by the army. After a missile hits her apartment and does not explode, Shideh begins to believe that a mysterious supernatural force is after her daughter Dorsa, who has started displaying unusual and weird behavior. Now, the mother must face the evil spirits in order to protect her daughter at any cost.
‘Under the Shadow’ received very good reviews from critics. The Persian language movie has got a fantastic critics’ score of 99% and is ‘Certified Fresh’ on reviews aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes. Moreover, on another portal Metacritic, the movie has attained a metascore of 83, indicating “Universal Acclaim”.
