Shesher Kobita tells the story of Amit, an Oxford educated eccentric and intellectual young man who meets a simple and beautiful girl named Labanya in an accident. A strange romance is formed between the two but there are any differences between them that does not let them be together. Shesher Kobita is one of the stories that talk about the fulfillment of love through separation. But it is not tragic in any sense. It leaves you with a smile at the end.
The director has done a wonderful job as it is really difficult to make a screen adaptation of such a famous novel so simply. The performances are top-notch. Konkona Sen Sharma impresses with her simplicity and Swastika is as haughty with the character of Ketaki as she is supposed to be. Rahul Bose is the perfect embodiment of the spirit of the Bengali lover ‘Amit Ray’.
