While, Crime Mystery is a crowd-pleaser genre, Dark Comedy is tough to pull off. It might work for some and might not for the rest. To top it, a Dark Comedy Whodunit can mostly never land wrong and the hybrid-genre has admirers across all age groups. For a generation that has grown up reading Agatha Christie novels and watching shows like Monk and Sherlock, ‘See How They Run’ is a wild and interesting addition to their watchlists.
The 2022 comedy mystery film is now streaming on Disney+Hotstar and we believe that it would make for a good weekend watch. ‘ See How They Run ‘ theatrically released on 16th September to generally positive reviews from critics and earned around $21 million worldwide.
Set in 1950s London, a movie version of a super-hit play comes to an abrupt halt after a pivotal member of the crew gets murdered. A world-weary senior inspector and a curious rookie constable takes on the case and they find themselves thrown into a puzzling whodunit. They struggle to investigate the homicide at the cost of their own careers as the dirty world of underground gets exposed.
Directed by Tom George and written by Mark Chappell, See How They Run is produced Gina Carter and Damian Jones and distributed by Walt Disney Studios. The film stars Sam Rockwell, Saoirse Ronan, Adrien Brody, Ruth Wilson,Reece Shearsmith, Harris Dickinson and David Oyelwo in major roles.
It may not be the smartest whodunit there ever is, but ‘See How They Run’ is a fun murder mystery that has quite few gags that land and a screenplay that is entertaining throughout. See How They Run is streaming now on Disney+Hotstar.
