The fastest Indian song to reach a billion views on YouTube is an Emraan Hashmi song and why are we not surprised? The talented actor has been part of various great music albums ever since he stepped into Bollywood. Hashmi’s record was such that there wasn’t a single film without at least one chart buster song from its music album. His latest music video, ‘Lut Gaye’, that released earlier this year, however, has gone on to make history. It has raced ahead to become the fastest Indian song to reach 1 billion views on YouTube, within just 8 months of its release, having released on 18th February, earlier this year.
The romantic song written by Manoj Muntashir and composed by Tanishk Bagch, is sung by Jubin Nautiyal, who’s latest ‘Raataan Lambiyan’ from the Sidharth Malhotra starrer ‘Shershaah’ is no less of a sensation. ‘Lut Gaye’ is based on the real-life love story of Vijay Dandekar, Mumbai’s top encounter specialist. Featuring Emraan Hashmi as Dandekar and Yukti Thareja as his love interest, the music video has been directed by director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru (of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ fame). Apparently, Dandekar started out as an undercover cop when he met the love of his life and went on to become one of the city’s most dreaded encounter specialists after an incident portayed in the song.
Incidentally, Hashmi’s earlier released music video also came from the house of T-Series and featured him alongside Esha Gupta. The 2015 love song was sung by Armaan Malik and also remains a popular one among Emraan Hashmi fans. On the work front, the actor will be next seen in supernatural horror film ‘Dybbuk’, the remake of Malayalam film ‘Ezra’ and ‘Tiger 3‘ alongside Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.
